The annual ranking by the World Benchmark Study (UBI) identifies, since 2013, the best innovation centers in the world

Award Ceremony to AUGE-UCR at the 2019 World Incubation Summit in Doha, Qatar, on November 6.

The Agencia Universitaria para la Gestión del Emprendimiento (AUGE), [University Agency for Entrepreneurship Management] of the Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), stood out in the ranking of the best incubators and accelerators in the world. Such a list is published by UBI Global, the organization and data intelligence community acknowledged for its work in high quality business incubation assessments.

This is the fifth edition of the  World Benchmark Study, el global standard study of business incubators and accelerators most respected worldwide for their quality, accuracy and value.

This year, UBI's work included 364 incubation programs in 82 countries. The recognitions and announcements took place at the World Incubation Summit 2019 in Doha, Qatar, on November 6.

On this occasion, UBI Global expanded the analysis and received data from incubators and accelerators of public and private companies, as well as programs linked to universities.

AUGE was recognized as one of the 20 best business incubators linked to a university. In this category, there are agencies from several countries in Europe, in addition to the United States, Canada, Brazil and three others in Latin America from Mexico, Chile, and Colombia.

MBA Luis Alonso Jiménez-Silva, director of AUGE, stressed that this recognition in the global benchmarking has been one of the most relevant milestones since the Agency was created seven years ago.

“The most significant thing is that our best performance is directly related to the development of entrepreneurial skills and post-incubation performance. This is quiet relevant, as one supports the other; in other words, we give value to the ventures and, then, they return it to us with a great performance”, commented Jiménez.

He also added that “this result fills us with satisfaction and I think it has been possible because we act according to what we teach. We see ourselves as an emerging company, with the same hunger to meet increasingly demanding challenges, working with a balanced team, competent, and committed to achievement,” said Jiménez.

According to UBI Global, the best project incubation programs are those business incubators or accelerators that achieve an outstanding impact and performance in relation to their global peers, thanks to the value they provide to their innovative ecosystem and the new companies of their clients.

“Our goal is to visualize the great goals achieved by the business incubation community. By highlighting the impact and performance of these programs, we are not only helping incubators and accelerators to be more efficient, but we are also helping government officials develop their respective innovation ecosystems,” said Ali Amin, CEO and co-founder of UBI Global.
