The Lankester Botanical Garden carries out the functions of a botanical garden according to the international standards established by organizations like Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (UICN). It is a research unit devoted to the study of orchids and other families of epiphyte plants to preserve the biological diversity of the planet and inspire and improve the quality of people’s life. It keeps an exhibition of extensive collections / ex situ / of orchids and develops scientific research on biology, preservation, cultivation and propagation of these plants.
