Economic Sciences Research Institute (IICE, for its acronym in Spanish)

The Economic Sciences Research Institute is the oldest research institute of the University of Costa Rica. It begins its functions in 1955 through a cooperative plan of several state organisms and a Research Project in Economic Development of Costa Rica.

In 1960, the program was transformed into an Institute of Economic Research, and got a solid and permanent personality. In 1970, three research centers were merged and from there it arouses the current Economic Sciences Research Institute.

Objectives

  • To promote and develop the country's economic research.
  • To contribute to raise the level of knowledge of the problems and complexities of the national and international economic system.
  • To promote the diffusion of new developments in Economic Science.
