Hora: All Day
Lugar: The Costa Rica Convention Center. San José, Costa Rica.
Welcome to an exciting new edition of MONOCOTS, the premier academic platform for sharing advances in the study of monocot plant systematics and evolution.
MONOCOTS, which is traditionally held every five years, has established itself as one of the most important meetings in botanical science, whose coverage spans over a large number of themes under a broader scope of comparative biology.
This edition of the Conference takes place in Costa Rica, a biological bridge between the Americas, located just 10° north of the Equator and a privileged place for the diversity of its flora, with about 3000 monocotyledon species recorded to date (which means 39% of all families and 19% of all known monocot genera in a country little larger than Switzerland).
During a week full of contributed lectures, seminars, symposia, poster sessions and theoretical and practical courses, the most celebrated authors and experts on a large number of topics relating to the natural history and classification of monocotyledons will gather here to share and discuss their knowledge on the crest of the wave.
The topics of the Conference cover a wide array of taxonomic groups and subjects, as well as life history strategies, biotechnology, ecology, morphology, paleobiology, phylogenomics, physiology, reproductive biology and conservation, among others.
The University of Costa Rica promotes the event, which is sponsored by the Costa Rican National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development and has been declared of national relevance by the Presidency of the Republic.
Registration and abstract submission are now open. Reserve your place to take advantage of early bird registration, and welcome to a wonderful meeting and to an electrifying country!
