Ethical-Scientific Committee

The Ethics and Scientific Committee of the University of Costa Rica for Research, whose participants are human beings (CEC, for its acronym in Spanish), was created on June 22^nd, 2000 with the aim of promoting the respect to dignity of the population, exerting control over research with people and ensuring the scientific rigor.

FUNCTIONS

To evaluate the studies in an independent, competitive and timeless way free from political, institutional, scientific and market influence, ethically and scientifically.
To provide ethical guidelines for research with human beings’ participation.
To follow up the approved research.
To recommend to the Vice Rector for Research to suspend any research which does not comply with the ethical principles, which violates legal provisions or causes serious damage to the participants.
To disseminate and train the researchers on Bioethics and Ethics of Research
